National Student Leadership Forum

The National Student Leadership Forum is a three-day annual event held in the fall that brings together a diverse group of university leaders from across the country. The program for the Forum is intentionally relational. Students will interact with fellow students, recent college graduates, young professionals and established adults from the political, business and social service sectors of society. Though the specifics of the forum shift slightly from year to year, core activities include keynote speeches by various political leaders, small group breakout sessions after larger meetings, panel discussions and more.

Congressional Fellows Program

The Congressional Fellows Program is a two-month summer opportunity for college students. Ten to 15 students are selected each year to live, work and learn together in Washington, D.C. Fellows live in the Cornerstone Intern House with other students working in D.C. and intern in a Congressional office or another office in the Washington, D.C. area. The schedule includes community service activities, interning 3 days a week, and training/teaching days. Congressional internship opportunities provide Fellows with a firsthand look at the inner workings of our nation’s leadership. One day a week will be focused on learning about the leadership model of Jesus of Nazareth through time spent with various Congressmen, Ambassadors or other leaders. Overall, a Fellow can expect a dynamic and unique summer internship experience that will enrich their mind, heart and resume.

Cornerstone Intern House

Cornerstone Intern House in College Park, Maryland, is a housing option for Washington, D.C. summer interns. Sponsored by National Student Leadership, Cornerstone provides a unique family-oriented atmosphere for the summer. Residents of Cornerstone can look forward to home-cooked dinners Monday through Thursday evenings and weekly house meetings featuring speakers who discuss servant leadership, community service, and relationships. Past speakers have included Members of Congress from both political parties, Capitol Hill staffers, business leaders and various D.C. community leaders. The hope is that Cornerstone would provide a fun atmosphere for summer interns who seek to learn and grow not only in their career objectives but also in their relationships.

Post-graduate Internship

The National Student Leadership post-graduate internship is a nine-month program. Since 2000, this internship has provided an opportunity for college graduates to translate what they’ve learned into their daily lives within the structure of community. There is a great emphasis on living in community and what it teaches about the principles of Jesus including stewardship of finances, service and reconciliation. Interns also help plan and facilitate many of the events around the nation put on by National Student Leadership such as the national forum, state forums, and the National Prayer Breakfast (with student weekend). In addition to these large events, interns travel domestically to various college campuses to encourage other young people in their relationships with God and with each other.
